Step 2: Creating an Email Campaign
The email campaign process from start to finish.
Updated over a week ago

Let's send an email! First, hover over the Marketing tab and click on Email Campaigns. Click on the Create Email button. You can also create an email at any time from any page by clicking the Create button on the top right of the dashboard.

Template Page

Basic: These templates are pre-formatted with columns to help you divide up your email into sections.

Custom: If you've created a custom template of your own, you would find that template in the Custom section.

Campaigns: This is where you will find previously drafted and sent email campaigns.

Inspirations: The Inspirations tab has seasonal templates that you can further customize to fit your store’s branding. This content is updated frequently with new templates and is a great reference point for design ideas!

Please note: If at any point in the campaign creation process, you select a different template, all design changes you previously made will be removed, so just a reminder to take caution when choosing templates!

Design Page

Use the drag-and-drop editor to edit your content and click Save & Exit when finished. Make sure to drop a container first before you drag in the content. The container blocks hold the content blacks within them.

Don't forget! All email campaigns require the [[unsubscribe]] and [[store_address]] tags in order to be CAN-SPAM compliant. Remember to add these tags to the footer of your campaign or your email will not send. There is a CAN-SPAM module that contains this information and makes it easy to drag into the footer of your email. You can edit your store address and other store information that dynamically pulls into these tabs by accessing the settings in the top right navigation menu.

Configure Page

Campaign Type: Select Standard or Multivariate. Multivariate testing gives your store the ability to test certain variables within an email and automatically send the best-performing email to your customers. Multivariate is only recommended if you have 5,000 subscribers or more.

From Email Address: If you’ve already verified your from email address, it will pull in automatically. Please note if you change this email address, you'll need to verify the new address before you can send this campaign.

Default Customer Name: This is how you will greet your recipient using the [[customer_first_name]] dynamic tag in your email. The Default Customer name is what we will use if we don't have the subscriber's first name. Valued Customer, Shopper, Shoe Lover if you're a shoe store etc. all work great here!

Recipients: Select the email list to send to or create a dynamic list.

Review Page

The final step is the Review Step. Depending on the size of your subscriber list, your recipient count may take a few moments to load.

If you see any red Xs under the CAN-SPAM Checklist, there are compliance elements that need your attention. You will want to ensure the From Email you inputted on the Configure page has been verified, and that the footer of the email includes the [[store_address]] dynamic tag as well as the [[unsubscribe]] dynamic tag. You must use dynamic tags rather than typing your physical store address out.

If you see any red Xs under the URL Validation sections, that means the email there is URL is not formatted correctly. To correct this, head back to the Design page and review every piece of content that is hyperlinked.

The final step is to send your email! You can choose to send it immediately or schedule your campaign for the future.

Pro Tip: Have you created a campaign you really like? You can duplicate it on the Campaign Dashboard and use it again!
