Background Knowledge on Shopify Store 2.0
With the launch of Online Store 2.0, Shopify restructured how apps interact with storefront themes. Instead of apps automatically injecting scripts or HTML into your theme’s code (like they used to in legacy themes), apps now must declare and register visual components as "app embeds" or "app blocks."
This applies to:
Popups
Banners
Widgets
Inline product recommendations
Anything visual rendered on the store
➡️ Now, for Springbot popups to render on a 2.0 store, the merchant must:
Approve the App Embed in their theme customizer
Toggle it ON to allow it to appear on the front end
What Happens If You Don’t Enable It
If the Springbot Popup embed is not turned on:
The popup will not render at all
Even if it's launched and active in the Springbot dashboard, Shopify blocks it from injecting visually
Users may assume it's broken when it's just not toggled in the theme
How to Toggle on Springbot for Shopify 2.0
Log into your Shopify Admin
Go to Your Theme Settings
Click “Customize” on Your Current Theme
Open App Embed Settings
Enable the Springbot Popup
Find the toggle for “Springbot Popup” in the app embed list.
Toggle it ON to enable the popup on your storefront.
Note: This option will only appear if you have an active popup campaign launched in Springbot.
Save Your Changes
Click the Save button in the top-right corner to apply your changes.
💡 Tip
Changes won't go live until you click Save — so don’t skip this final step!
If your popup still isn't showing, double-check that:
Your popup campaign is launched in Springbot
You're working on the correct Shopify theme
The Springbot app is installed and connected properly
